Result Reporting

All screening results will be sent to the ordering physician and/or person(s) designated in your contract. It will be the responsibility of this person(s) to relay the results to the ordering physician. The ordering physician should then share the results with the parent or guardian. Consultation will be provided when an abnormal result is obtained. Suggestions and recommendations for further diagnostic testing will be provided when appropriate.

Results are available within 2-3 working days (M-F) after receipt of sample. Result reporting may be delayed if the card or the informed consent form is not complete.

Approximately 1 in 100 screenings have results that may require a repeat specimen be obtained and screened. This repeat screen, when requested by the IMD, will be performed at no charge.

Result handling:
• Normal results are mailed and/or faxed.
• Abnormal results are immediately faxed, then mailed.
• Critical results are immediately phoned, faxed and mailed.
