Neonatal Resuscitation and Stabilization before the Tertiary Care Center
Participants of this course will receive 2 CEU after completion.
The objectives include:
• Review the ABCDE's of newborn resuscitation
• Outline cardiopulmonary conditions exemplifying "failure to adapt" to extrauterine environment
• Describe the 6 H's of stabilization after newborn resuscitation which include hypothermia, hypoglycemia, hypoxia, hypercarbia, hypotension, and hydration
• Discuss circumstances that may complicate newborn resuscitation and stabilization including maternal drugs, poly/oligohydramnios, meconium aspiration, hypovolemia, hemorrhage, pneumothorax, and unsuccessful resuscitation
