Baylor University Medical Center
Baylor University Medical Center is a private teaching hospital that serves as the main tertiary referral center for all of North Texas. There are approximately 70,000 annual inpatient admissions to the hospital, with over 30,000 operative procedures performed in 50 operating suites. The vascular surgery service performs more than 3,000 cases each year. Baylor University Medical Center was the nation's first hospital to receive the Gold Seal of Approval™ from The Joint Commission for the Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) program.
Baylor Jack and Jane Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital
The freestanding Baylor Jack and Jane Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital (BHVH) is the first North Texas hospital dedicated solely to the care and treatment of patients with cardiovascular diseases and related conditions. The Baylor Jack and Jane Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital includes four operating suites devoted to peripheral vascular surgery, including a fully equipped endovascular suite. A new high-resolution scanner available at the BHVH can produce images so detailed that blockages or plaques can be visualized just as in an invasive coronary angiogram.
Baylor Heart and Vascular Institute
As part of the Baylor Jack and Jane Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital, the Baylor Heart and Vascular Institute was established in 1993 to promote cardiovascular research and education to prevent and treat heart and vascular disease. The institute supports development and implementation of the newest techniques and technologies in cardiovascular care and is an important referral center for physicians and consumers seeking information about and access to treatment for cardiovascular disease. Paul A. Grayburn, M.D. is Director of Cardiology Research and is an internationally recognized expert in echocardiography.
The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano
At The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano, clinical quality and innovation have led to the development of a robust clinical research program that, since its inception, has touched the lives of over 2,827 patients across the cardiovascular spectrum. The research team at The Heart Hospital has participated in numerous clinical research trials for the treatment of valvular heart disease, heart failure, vascular disease, arrhythmia and coronary artery disease to name a few. In addition, we have been a leading enrollment center for many of these trials.
Our researchers have been nationally recognized by medical associations and have been awarded more than $2.6 million in government research grants. Our experienced team of investigators has authored published works in major scientific journals and presented at national and international medical meetings. The Soltero Cardiovascular Research Center began at Baylor in 1987 to bring clinically relevant cardiology research studies to Baylor. The Center is improving patients' lives through innovative research to understand, prevent, and even reverse heart disease.
