A Systems Biology Approach for Pediatric and Adult Autoimmune Diseases

The major goals of this project are 1) to assess the efficacy of novel targeted therapies, 2) to develop simple and robust biomarkers using state-of-the-art genomic approaches, 3) to understand the role of recently identified T cell subsets in disease pathogenesis, and 4) to assess antigen-specific responses in pediatric and adult autoimmune diseases.

A System Analysis Vaccine Responses in Healthy & Hyporesponsive Humans

The systems biology approaches will permit us to gain a comprehensive view of the immunobiology associated with a potent response to vaccination in patients with autoimmune diseases (Project #4). This will lead to the identification of biomarker signatures indicative of the quality of vaccine-induced antibody responses.  This, in turn, will facilitate the rational design and development of novel improved vaccines.
