The long-term objective of the proposed project is to decrease the incidence of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in newborns. The specific aim is to design and implement a Neonatal Oxygen Therapy Information System (NOTIS). Once NOTIS has been developed and pilot tested, NOTIS will enable new born intensive care units (NICUs) to monitor and improve adherence to oximetry targets, evaluate oxygen therapy education-management programs, facilitate translation of oxygen therapy education-management programs from research settings into clinical practice, and support research designed to determine optimal saturation targets.

We are requesting funds to develop and pilot test the NOTIS system, a non-commercial information system to monitor oxygen therapy that, following appropriate evaluation and refinements, will be made available to NICUs worldwide.
