The Office of Research Subject Protection at Baylor Research Institute has responsibility for the three Institutional Review Boards (IRBs).
The IRBs are composed of physicians and other health care professionals from Baylor Health Care System as well as community representatives from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Our diverse membership includes MDs, PhDs, nurses, social workers, ministers, attorneys, pharmacists and other community representatives.
There are approximately 800 active research projects involving human subjects being conducted under the auspices of these IRBs. The IRBs meet monthly.
The Office of Research Subject Protection provides staff support for the IRBs, maintains IRB records, and informs researchers of federal and institutional regulations and guidelines (including changes) governing IRB activities.
