Offices and Centers of the Institute for Health Care Research and Improvement focus on improving health care quality across Baylor Health Care System, the United States, and the world through research and operational efforts.
The Center for Clinical Innovation features in-house medical writers, health services researchers, and research project managers. Together, they participate in the design, proposal, and publication of research aimed to enhance health care quality.
The Center for Health Care Improvement implements and oversees health care improvement strategies including education programs, measurement of evidence-based processes of care, and collaboration with other organizations focused on quality improvement through operational change and research.
The Epidemiology group includes researchers who study public health and the factors that influence the health and illness of populations.
The Office of Patient Centeredness works to improve the quality of the patient and family experience throughout BHCS by promoting patient-centered care. As defined by the Institute of Medicine, patient-centered care focuses on “the patient’s experience of illness and health care and the systems that work or fail to work to meet individual patients’ needs.”
The Office of Patient Safety facilitates the implementation of evidence-based patient safety practices throughout BHCS. Formed in 2005, the Office of Patient Safety seeks to promote an organizational culture conducive to the development of patient safety innovations, conduct research on patient safety improvement methods, and guide employees in the adoption of patient safety values.
The Performance Measurement group focuses on the measurement and reporting of data related to quality across Baylor Health Care System.
The Quantitative Sciences group includes biostatisticians, data coordinators, and analysts who pursue clinically important research and offer their quantitative expertise in support of efforts to improve health care and operational processes across Baylor Health Care System.
The STEEEP Analytics group specializes in data coordination and data management to advance the goal of making health care more safe, timely, effective, equitable, efficient, and patient centered.
