Office of Patient Safety

The Office of Patient Safety (OPS) facilitates the implementation of evidence-based patient safety practices throughout Baylor Health Care System (BHCS). Formed in 2005, the OPS seeks to intensify existing patient safety programs, promote an organizational culture conducive to the development of patient safety innovations, and guide employees in the adoption of patient safety values.

Under the leadership of Jan Compton, RN, BSN, MSHA, CPHQ, BHCS Chief Patient Safety Officer, the OPS seeks to operationalize patient safety goals across all BHCS hospitals and the HealthTexas Provider Network, BHCS's affiliated physician organization.

Through its focus on patient safety, the OPS advances BHCS's mission to serve all people through exemplary health care, education, research, and community service, and helps to fulfill its vision to be trusted as the best place to give and receive safe, quality, compassionate health care.
