Surgical Intensive Care Unit Elective (SICU)

 

The SICU rotation will provide the student with additional experience in the management of critically ill trauma and general surgical patients, as well as exposure to the multidisciplinary management of those patients. This will include education directed toward ventilatory management, hemodynamic monitoring and management, as well as nutritional, pharmacologic and rehabilitative efforts. Night call is not required. The length of this elective is two or four weeks.
