Dermatology Residency

Program Information

The three-year Dermatology Residency Training Program at Baylor University Medical Center offers training in post-graduate years two, three, and four. Our program offers six residency training positions, with two residents selected each year. Our large patient base and affiliations with multiple private and hospital-based clinics provide a diversity of patient populations, a broad spectrum of medically and surgically related cutaneous diseases, and exposure to an outstanding clinical faculty. Additionally, residents are expected to actively participate in clinical and basic science research, research studies, as well as to publish and present papers throughout the three-year program.

Residents are provided the opportunity to offer direct care under the one-on-one supervision of an attending physician. Each year of the program is designed to allow the resident to perform more independently in the diagnosis, management, and decision-making functions of dermatology according to their knowledge level, technical skills, and expertise. Two Elective Rotations in the third year of the program provide the opportunity for the resident to gain more in-depth experience in one or more dermatological sub-specialties (pediatrics, surgery, dermatopathology, clinical or translational research).

I consider it a personal privilege to assist in the training and mentoring of future dermatologists. At the completion of the three-year program, our goal is to ensure that each resident is fully prepared for certification, clinical practice, and/or pursuit of an academic career.
