The three-year Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas Dermatology Residency program offers training in post-graduate education years two, three and four. This program offers six residency positions, with two residents selected each year. Baylor’s large patient base and affiliations with multiple private and hospital-based clinics provide a diversity of patient populations, a broad spectrum of medically and surgically related cutaneous diseases and exposure to an outstanding clinical faculty. Residents also actively participate in clinical and basic science research, research studies, as well as publish and present papers throughout the three-year program.
Baylor residents offer direct care under the one-on-one supervision of an attending physician. Each year is designed to allow the resident to perform more independently in the diagnosis, management and decision-making functions of dermatology according to his or her knowledge level, technical skills and expertise. Two elective rotations in the third year allow residents to gain more in-depth experience in one or more dermatological sub-specialties (pediatrics, surgery, dermapathology, clinical or translational research).
I consider it a personal privilege to assist in the training and mentoring of future dermatologists. At the completion of the three-year program, our goal is to fully prepare each resident for certification, clinical practice and/or pursuit of an academic career.
