Life in Dallas

Residents who choose the training program at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas also will benefit from the wide array of activities available in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Dallas in the ninth largest city in the United States and the D/FW metroplex is the top visitor and leisure destination in Texas.

 

Sports

 

The metroplex is home to five professional sports teams:

  • Dallas Cowboys
  • Dallas Stars
  • Dallas Mavericks
  • FC Dallas
  • Texas Rangers

 

The area also is home to several minor league baseball teams, NASCAR and Indy racing, two major golf tournaments, professional rodeo and horse racing.

Residents also can enjoy many cultural experiences in the area including:

  • Myerson Symphony Center
  • Nasher Sculpture Garden
  • Dallas Museum of Art
  • Winspear Opera House
  • The Science Place and IMAX Theater
  • Perot Museum of Nature and Science
  • Dallas Arboretum

  • Dallas World Aquarium

 

Several art and music festivals also are held throughout the year.

 

Parks and Outdoor Activities

 

Dallas is home to Klyde Warren Park, a 5.2-acre deck park that is an urban green space built over the recessed Woodall Rogers Freeway in downtown Dallas. It offers fun, daily activities, concerts, food trucks and other activities. There also are several parks located across the area, many featuring jogging and cycling paths. The Dallas Zoo is located just south of downtown Dallas and was recently named one of the top best zoos in the country by USA Today.
