Vascular and Interventional Radiology Fellowship

 

The Vascular and Interventional Radiology Fellowship program at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas provides comprehensive training in all aspects of vascular and non-vascular intervention and diagnostic angiography. Baylor University Medical Center's Radiology division performs more than 3,000 interventional procedures and 2,600 diagnostic angiograms each year.

 

Fellows gain experience performing such procedures as:

  • Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt (TIPS) creation
  • Vascular stent placement
  • Stent grafts
  • Transluminal angioplasty
  • Atherectomy
  • Thrombolysis
  • Embolization
  • Chemoembolization
  • Biliary drainage
  • Biliary stent placement
  • Stone extraction
  • Abscess drainage
  • Biopsies
  • Gastrojejunostomy catheter placement
  • A variety of urological interventional procedures

 

Baylor University Medical Center has five angiographic suites, including three new, advanced facilities and full-time interventional radiologists on its medical staff.


The conference room has been enhanced with a new projection system and a new computer room that contains multiple computers for Fellows’ education and research.

The library is updated yearly and contains multiple references including journals, textbooks, videotapes and CD-ROMs.  Fellows have unlimited access to the library during the day and have access at night through the resident on call.  An institutional medical library also is available for more intensive and detailed educational needs.
