Hematopathology Fellowship

Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas’ Hematopathology Fellowship program is approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) to train two fellows.


Baylor Dallas offers a one-year fellowship at a PGY level of IV or above. This fellowship is offered in the Department of Pathology at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas in Dallas, Texas.


The emphasis of the program is on diagnostic hematopathology and laboratory hematology. This program includes training in:

  • Peripheral blood and bone marrow morphology interpretation
  • Lymph node and spleen morphology
  • Extranodal lymphoid malignancies
  • Coagulation
  • Flow cytometry
  • Cytogenetics
  • Molecular pathology


Baylor Dallas is a large tertiary hospital in Dallas, and as a result, the volume is large and varied. Baylor Dallas is affiliated with Texas A&M University Medical Center. The program is also affiliated with MedFusion, a large regional clinical laboratory located in Lewisville, Texas.


The yearly bone marrow volume is approximately 2,000 specimens, and the lymph node, spleen and extranodal lymphoma cases are about 1,000.
