Fellows in the Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas Colon and Rectal Surgery program attend weekly didactic conferences encompassing all aspects of colorectal disease, including radiology and pathology. Fellows also attend a biweekly gastrointestinal cancer conference and book conference, as well as a bimonthly Journal Club.
A weekly basic science conference gives the fellows experience in presenting basic colorectal diseases in a faculty-supported, high-level conversation. Case management conferences bring difficult cases for discussion in the areas of IBD, pelvic floor disorders, stage diseases, and emergency and elective settings. The multidisciplinary team discussions of all colorectal cancer cases provide decision-making for cancer cases.
