Welcome to the Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) Graduate Medical Education Web site. BUMC has demonstrated its strong commitment to medical education by including it in the mission statement of the hospital. In this era of funding cutbacks, which has jeopardized the future of many residency programs, Baylor has formulated a contingency plan by initiating an endowment fund through the Baylor Foundation, which will ensure the future of medical education at BUMC. We are all proud of the excellent teaching programs at BUMC. Our emphasis has always been on education rather than service. The attending teaching staff is selected to participate because of their own interest in furthering the education of residents. Many of our current attendings were once residents at BUMC.

The Medical Education office is the center of activity for all of the residency/fellowship programs. Although your program director is responsible for your daily curriculum and duties, my staff is responsible for performing the administrative functions such as making sure you are paid, communicating with the ACGME and State Boards, and maintaining your permanent file.

I am always available to discuss any issues about your residency program. As chairman of the Committee on Medical Education, I must make sure that each of our programs is living up to the institution’s expectations.
