The Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas Pharmacy
Decentralized Pharmacists- Universal ICU

Facilities aside, the real difference begins with our model of care. At Baylor, Pharmacists are part of multi-disciplinary teams involved with direct patient care. Pharmacists work directly with physicians, nurses, dieticians, and respiratory therapists to determine each patient's care. The team meets twice weekly to evaluate the patient's current medical problems and current therapy. Each patient's medication regimen is reviewed by the team to assure that therapeutic outcomes are being achieved.

Pharmacists are a critical resource for Nurses, Physicians, Housestaff and Students. From managing complex drug therapies to introducing new pharmaceuticals into the care matrix to providing drug information, Baylor Pharmacists are breaking new ground in enhancing the value of their field.

"Studies have shown improved outcomes when the clinical pharmacist assumes an active role in the care of critically ill patients. The Pharmacist plays an integral role as part of our multidisciplinary team. We have seen significant benefits in overall patient care with the active involvement of pharmacy along with the other members of the clinical team. At Baylor we have some of the industry's most dedicated and talented professionals. I'm proud to call them colleagues."
