The environment is open and advanced. The atmosphere fast-paced. Hundreds of orders are flowing through the integrated network. But for one of the world's most sophisticated pharmacies, it's just a day at the office.
All functions of pharmacy originate in the Main Pharmacy. Physician orders are processed, medications are prepared and dispensed to the patient care areas, and questions are triaged to the appropriate staff member. Technology is an integral part of our systems here as well. Our pharmacy information system and Pyxis system tie into an inventory management system that automates the dispensing and stocking functions.
No matter the shift or time of day, the Main Pharmacy is moving. Professionals conferring, consulting. People attending class in the Resource Center located around the corner. Pharmacists reviewing patient records. Information being accessed. This is the very essence of what Pharmacy is all about. Being involved.  Baylor's automated inventory system combines enhanced robotics with practical design and maximum efficiency. Rotating shelves make accessing medications easy. Pharmacy Central®, the system's main software, tracks all inventory for ordering purposes. The system interfaces with Baylor's main pharmacy computer and the Pyxis system to ensure efficient distribution and delivery of medications. Baylor has four REMSTAR units in use at all times.
