The Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas Pharmacy
ICU Satellite Pharmacy

Staffed 16 hours a day and serving 120 beds, this pharmacy is located directly in the ICU itself. The staff works within the five ICU's to provide full clinical and distributive services. The pharmacists and technicians on the ICU team work together to provide timely and comprehensive pharmacy services, including, evaluating all physician orders, making STAT and first dose IV's, providing consultation services, and providing drug information.

In addition to providing caregivers with vital meds, ICU Pharmacists also have close proximity to patient records. Being a constant source of information is a key part of the job. Baylor has designed the ICU Pharmacy for the convenience of everyone. Nurses and Physicians enjoy the high service and ready access to information, while Pharmacists continue to add value to their role.

"I like the relationship that's established with the Nurses and Doctors and the ease at which we all share information. If you ever have any questions, they're eager to explain. If you have any problems with orders, you can always go directly to the Doctor. We're providing better service to patients, nurses and doctors by being on the floor and having such close proximity. They aren't afraid of innovation here.

I like working with people who are experts in their field. People are always willing to share their knowledge. It's a very diverse group of people where everyone comes together and help. If you're interested in a field where there are so many opportunities and resources to grow, you need to be at Baylor."
