Diabetes Professional Training Program

Program Objectives

Objectives of the Diabetes Professional Training Program include:

· Identify medical nutrition therapy strategies for individuals with diabetes.
· Discuss intensive insulin management including pump therapy.
· Identify the components of a comprehensive, effective patient education program.
· Utilize pattern management in the decision to use various insulin types and/or oral agents.
· Discuss disease state management of cardiovascular disorders in the person with diabetes.
· Describe the management strategies for gestational diabetes.
· Discuss treatment protocols in Type 2 diabetes.

The Healthcare Professional Program's fifth day is an optional workshop. This day covers how to obtain American Diabetes Association recognition for the educational program in a diabetes center or physicians office. The workshop is offered on Fridays of selected sessions.
