Baylor University Medical Center Dietetic Internship Program

Our Mission

The Dietetic Internship Program at Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) located in Dallas, Texas offers a  ten-month training program, with a Clinical /Nutrition Therapy Concentration Area, for individuals who have met the academic requirements by the American Dietetic Association.  Since the graduation of the first class in 1955, the  program has maintained accreditation status from the American Dietetic Association.

Baylor University Medical Center Dietetic Internship is proud to announce its acceptance of 10 dietetic interns beginning with the 2010-2011 class.  Our internship program provides training in clinical, administrative, and community dietetics. Each intern receives individualized training and is taught in one-on-one training relationships with our faculty. Classes taught by physicians, dietitians, department managers, and guest speakers are scheduled throughout the year to augment the intern's current knowledge and prepare the intern for hands-on experiences.

Successful completion of  the dietetic internship requires each intern to satisfactorily complete all educational competencies.  Interns requiring additional learning experiences to meet competencies will be allowed up to 15 months (150 percent) for completion of graduation requirements.  Upon completion of the dietetic internship at Baylor, the intern should be well-prepared to complete the registration examination for dietitians and function as a dietetic professional.  We are proud of our graduates and the 90% pass rate on the registration examination for the past 2 years.

The program maintains commitments from professionals within the Medical Center and the local community to operate in a financially viable fashion.
