2008-2009 Dietetic Intern Testimonials

The past 10 months as a Baylor Intern have been among the most challenging and rewarding in my life.  I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn from excellent dietitians, nutrition management staff, and my fellow interns.  I know that this internship has prepared me well for the vast field of dietetics.  But more importantly, I have met professional men and women who truly care about patients and each other.  They are passionate about their specific vocations and inspire students to strive for their own personal best. I would highly recommend Baylor to any graduate who is looking for a program that will set a great foundation in research-based dietetics.

The day I walked into Baylor I knew it was where I belonged, and although the process was grueling, it was worth every minute when I received my acceptance letter.  Now I look back and realize that every minute of this internship has prepared me for my future as a practicing dietitian with better experiences than I could nave imagined. From here on, I will always be proud to tell people I came from Baylor!

This internship has provided me with the most rewarding, challenging, and meaningful experiences in my life so far.  I have grown tremendously as a person and as a professional.  I have also met 7 other people who have made this internship so much fun.  I am forever bonded to them because we went through this together as a team.  I feel like I was given a chance to see many different areas of dietetics, including clinical foodservice, management and community.  In addition, it gave me the opportunity to not only learn from some of the best RD’s in the field of dietetics but helped solidify what kind of RD I hope to be.  I will always be able to carry the Baylor name with me, and I will always be a Baylor Intern!

My experience at the Baylor University Medical Center Dietetic Internship is invaluable.  The level of expertise of the preceptors at Baylor is incredible; they truly are the best in their field.  I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to complete my internship in one of the most well known and respected teaching medical centers in the country.  The challenging experiences I was exposed to during my 10 months at Baylor have provided me with the confidence and skills necessary to become a successful dietitian.

Two years ago in my junior year of college, the BUMC internship was my first choice. Had I the chance to dot he matching process again, it would be the same.  The experiences, level of knowledge, resources, and networking opportunities one acquires of the course of this internship are outstanding.  It has been a wonderful opportunity for me to grow personally and professionally.

The Baylor Dietetic Internship exposes you to so many opportunities in preparation for the future.  My experience over the past 10 months has not only prepared me to be an entry level Dietitian, but it has taught me a great deal about myself.  I am thankful for the opportunity that I had to be a part of this excellent program.

The Baylor Internship was a very challenging, but also rewarding experience. Over 10 months, I had the opportunity to work with and learn from an elite group of dietitians in various areas of nutrition. The rotations in foodservice management, community, and clinical nutrition have prepared me for the RD exam.  In addition, the internship has given me the knowledge and confidence to enter the field of dietetics!

The Dietetic Internship here at Baylor University Medical Center is the most educationally stimulating, personally challenging, and beneficial experience a hopeful RD can have.  The intensive training in specialty areas throughout the hospital exposes you to the many different aspects of clinical dietetics.  The community rotations allow you to share your knowledge of nutrition with others on a large scale.  Lastly, the food service and managerial part of this internship provides an opportunity to take a leadership role in order to organize, delegate, and help run a large food service operation.  Looking back over the past 10 months, I have learned more, grew more, and done more than I ever thought possible. I have gained a sense of confidence in my abilities as a Dietitian and know that will carry me throughout my career.  Graduating as a Baylor Intern, I am Proud of all we have accomplished and feel prepared to take on anything that presents itself in the future.
