Learn more about the education directors and faculty qualifications and responsibilities in Baylor’s radiology residency program.

Education Directors
Physicians who serve as primary education director of a radiology subspecialty are responsible for its educational content and curriculum, as well as the evaluation of each resident when he or she finishes a monthly rotation. The majority of our teaching faculty, present in all nine radiology subspecialty areas, is fellowship trained. All of our medical directors spend at least 50 percent of their time in our department.

The program’s education directors have demonstrated a commitment to their subspecialty by fulfilling at least one of the following criteria:
1) Fellowship training or more than 3 years experience in the subspecialty
2) Society membership in the subspecialty
3) Presentations and research in the subspecialty
4) Annual CME credits in the subspecialty

Faculty Qualifications and Responsibilities

Our program director, along with teaching faculty and our education committee, oversees the administration of our program and participates in residents’ instruction, supervision, counseling, evaluation, and advancement.

The education committee consists of radiology department staff members and the current chief residents. The committee has a standing quarterly meeting. It evaluates:

• The program goals and objectives
• The effectiveness of teaching efforts
• Acquisition and use of new resources
• Financial and administrative support for the residency
• Quality and quantity of the patient load
• Quality of the teaching faculty
• Supervision of the residents

The education committee also makes recommendations to the program director on any disciplinary activity or probation status that is proposed for any resident. These recommendations are subject to approval by the sponsoring institution’s graduate medical education committee.
