Baylor University Medical Center
Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program
How to Apply

Radiology residents at Baylor University Medical Center are selected entirely through the National Residency Match Program, using the Internet-based electronic resident application system (ERAS).

Your application is considered complete and ready for review after we receive your ERAS application, your medical school transcript, three letters of recommendation, your photograph, your USMLE scores (Step 1 results are mandatory, Step 2 results are desirable), and a letter form your dean.

We look at many factors before inviting an applicant for a formal interview. An applicant’s academic rank or class standing, board scores, letters of recommendation, extracurricular activities, and previous experiences are all considered.

The chairman and co-chairman of the residency selection committee, which is made up of both staff physicians and residents, perform this screening process. When an applicant is invited for an interview, we conduct at least three formal interviews with members of the residency selection committee, including at least one resident. The interview day also includes a tour of our facilities, attendance of our noon conference, and lunch in the medical center with members of our current residency class.

We consider all the screening and interview information to arrive at a final rank order that lists applicants according to perceived compatibility with our program.

We do occasionally accept applications outside the National Residency Matching Program because of unforeseen circumstances, and we employ a similar process for these residents. We abide by all the rules of the National Residency Matching Program, and we do not discriminate based upon age, religion, ethnicity, or national origin.
