Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency

Dear Applicant:

Welcome to the Web site for the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency training program at Baylor University Medical Center! I am delighted that you have an interest in our training program which offers a diverse opportunity in the field of physiatry.

Our program consists of nine residents, three in each level of training, with three PGY-2 residents recruited each year. We have 17 full-time faculty dedicated to training our residents. The patient care opportunities are diverse. The faculty-to-resident ratio assures that each resident receives the proper amount of resident-faculty interaction.

Training occurs in a wide variety of practice sites, ranging from a 92-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility to a large community-based teaching hospital to small outpatient sites in more rural settings.

We have been able to tailor the residency experience to meet all the practice experiences that a physiatrist entering practice might encounter. We feel this diversity of training, with multiple practice sites, best prepares each resident to make their best decision for future practice.

We feel the resident in training will receive opportunities in sports medicine, musculoskeletal medicine, inpatient rehabilitation, and neuromuscular diseases that will well-prepare them for future practice. Please take advantage of the remainder of this Web site to better answer your questions about our PM&R training program.

We appreciate your interest in Baylor and look forward to receiving your application.

Sincerely,

Christopher J. Garrison, M.D.
