Baylor University Medical Center’s Anesthesia for Major Organ Transplantation Fellowship training program began in 1985, when the academic medical center began its liver transplant program. The department added a second position in 1990, when the Baylor Institute of Transplant Surgery was expanded to include multi-organ transplants. These fellowships are offered initially for six months and are renewable up to one year (this is a non-ACBME-accredited year).
During our program, board-eligible anesthesiologists develop advanced skills in the management of high-acuity patients and obtain a solid foundation in clinical research. Fellows who have graduated from this program have passed their boards on their first attempt and have gone on to obtain excellent positions in private practice and academic settings. Two graduates have become internationally recognized clinical researchers and teachers at academic institutions. |
