Fellows attend and often review literature and lead discussions at weekly conferences, including basis science, clinical conference, journal club, and research conference.
Fellows are also encouraged to attend a variety of multidisciplinary site-tumor conferences held at the Sammons Cancer Center. These conferences provide the fellow with cumulative experience in interpreting clinical and morphologic findings, as well as the opportunity to observe and participate in multidisciplinary interaction between various specialists in the care of oncology patients.
Along with pathology residents and medical students, fellows also meet with Dr. Stone on a weekly basis for Unknown Case Conferences, a presentation of unknown cases and review of morphology followed by discussion of the condition. Psychosocial and humanistic topics are considered at various conferences and in discussions of individual patients throughout the various rotations. |
