Baylor University Medical Center
Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship
Facilities and Resources

The Cardiology Division is housed in the Baylor Jack and Jane Hamilton Heart Hospital and has been an integral part of BUMC since 1975. All fellows complete rotations in various cardiology clinics, including private practices and the outpatient clinic at Parkland Memorial Hospital.

Fellows also have access to the following resources:

· The cardiac catheterization laboratories at the medical center currently include five angiographic suites, two of which are biplane. All five labs have the latest digital equipment.

· There are also two dedicated electrophysiology labs, one of which is biplane.

· The noninvasive area of the Heart Center, as well as our private office, provide extensive experience in treadmill stress testing, thallium imaging, radionuclear first pass studies, color Doppler echocardiography, stress echocardiography and transesophageal echocardiography. There is an active transplant program with dedicated staff and a transplant cardiologist.

· The medical center has a 15-bed coronary care unit, which has a dedicated new fluoroscopy suite that is used for the insertion of temporary pacemakers, pulmonary artery balloon catheters, and intra-aortic balloon devices. The fellows are actively involved in the care of patients in the coronary care unit.
